A relaxed, friendly community music group where people come together to sing, play, listen and enjoy music.

Open to everyone, especially people with dementia or learning differences, along with friends, family and carers.

This is a weekly group that was first launched as "Singing for the Brain" in Wells in January 2022 for those affected by Dementia and their carers. They started with four members and have now grown to up to forty and our group includes a diverse range of people affected by memory loss and their families as well as younger people with additional needs. These groups are inclusive and welcome people of all ages who want to join the community.

After sharing tea, coffee and home made cakes the "Music for Wellbeing" group will always include some of the following activities.

– Singing a wide range of songs.
– Playing and exploring a wide range of beautiful instruments including tuned and untuned percussion
– Rhythm games and musical games with props
– Gentle movement and circle songs
– Creative music making activities including improvising and song writing.
– Some relaxation time with calming music and low lighting
– Some time for dancing and moving

On Wednesday 1st July, Music for Wellbeing welcomes Sivani Mata Francis, a sensory and elemental artist who has been offering song circles for twenty years. Join us for a morning of 'prayersongs' that celebrate our connection to land and life. Inspired by an approach to living that centres in love, Sivani Mata plays drum, charango and harmonium, and you are invited to add your voice and perhaps have a dance through the space.
